Dal 3 al 6 agosto 2012, al Clark Kerr Campus dell'Università della California (Berkeley -USA), si terrà l'evento Mythcon 43, organizzato dalla Mythopoeic Society.
Il tema di questa edizione del convegno sarà "Across the Continents: Myths and legends from Europe and Asia meet and mingle" (Attraverso i continenti: Miti e leggende da Europa e Asia si incontrano e si mescolano).
Il programma prevede numerose conferenze, diverse delle quali di ambito prettemente tolkieniano: Tolkien's Faerian Drama: Origins and Valedictions (Janet Croft), One Name to Rule Them All: The Magic of Names and Its Connection to Religion in The Lord of the Rings (Kendra Kravig), Imperfection, Folly, and Unaligned Evil in Middle-earth (Sam McBride), Tolkien and the Transgressive Body: Subversions of Hetero-normativity in the Races of Middle-earth (Coral Lumbley).

L'accesso al convegno è a pagamento ($95 per i non associati, gratis per i minori di 12 anni).
